My approach to Hurdy Gurdy lessons

I provide virtual one-on-one lessons for all hurdy gurdy players looking for guidance, community, and support. So whether you’re just starting out and have no idea which way is up, or if you’ve been playing for a while and want to talk technique with someone, I can help! With over nine years of professional playing experience, I have helped students across the country refine their skills and diagnose issues with their instruments.

I aim to keep my lessons student-driven, focusing and modifying our sessions to each student’s particular needs. My unique playing style evolved through years of self taught experimentation and learning what I can from others. Now add in a little of my own hyper-fixation induced studies into music theory and folk music spanning cultures and centuries, and this creates the oportunity for a deeper musical education beyond simply learning technique. Because of this, my students have described my approach to the hurdy gurdy as feeling more digestible to new students.

How do I get started?

To get started, send me a message through my contact page and we will shcedule a complementary video consultation. This will give us a chance to discuss your current experience level and the goals you would like to achieve. It will also allow us to fine tune the system and ensure the lessons will work correctly. There is absolutely no obligation, either! This is your chance to ensure that it feels like a good fit, and that you feel comfortable.

Once you’re ready to proceed, lessons are $60/hour and can be scheduled at a frequency convenient for you, whether that be weekly, monthly, or somewhere in between! You can also get a 10% discount by booking four lessons at a time. Payments are processed through Paypal or Venmo, whichever works best for you.
